busy days

Hello everyone..Lots of things happening just lately. The organisers of Americana (Brian Duggan) kindly offered a spot on the singer/songwriter section of the festival, and to say it was nerve jangling wouldn't really convey my feelings as I went out onto main stage at around 10 am  to get  a "feel" of the stage..--it's bl*****y well ENORMOUS !....As it IS England,5 minutes before I was to go on (yep,I was first on! ) the heavens opened, and it bucketed down. People (not unnaturally) ran for cover, and I fully expected to be singing to an empty field...but around 100 die-hard souls had wrapped plastic around them, brollies, wellies and all,and stuck it out(bless 'em for doing so ), after all, this is their festival, and NOTHING was going to deter them from having the best time they could. ....It was over all too quickly, and a great time was had ..thanks for the spot,Brian.

On another note, the very popular  radio D J Mr PAUL WEST of " hope fm " based in Bournmouth is doing me the honour of an interview this coming Sunday at eight 'o clock in the evening,he is very well known for his  enthusiastic support and broadcasting of country music, and it would be nice if YOU lovely folk out there joined us,if not directly on the radio, then on the computer.

I met Paul (and his charming partner) last week, and i can't tell you how kindly I was treated by them both..fed, watered, listened to...encouraged..--what people .! --..in my opinion, typical of the very people that ARE interested in country music.....And we spoke of the way the media generally ignores what is,truth be told--an ENORMOUS amount of public who travel miles and miles, attend festivals to rival Knebworth in size, people who  genuinely LOVE country music.....what do you see on the news ?--yep..that's right--ZIP...nada ,..nothing about it...as if 25,000 people gathered for a 3 day festival ( 120,000 in 3 days at Americana) just isn't happening. ! it is AMAZING how ignored we are !   I suppose if there were lots of trouble,or dozens were arrested for using drugs then perhaps we would be "newsworthy"....hmmm there are times when I get  so annoyed because of --at best--the only mention given to us country fans is done in a sniggering, mickey -taking -look - down -your --nose-kind of way...thank heaven for  the D J's like Paul West who give us airtime and respect..(..oh gawd--I just realised Iv'e been on my soapbox)..ahem...sorry about that folks.

To close this ,I just HAVE to mention that a song I have written and recorded, has just hit no 36 in the "hot disc 100 " charts...this is a country music promotion chart, run by Mr Stuart Cameron. You can check the site out anytime,at  hotdisc.net ,it is as easy as that..........Needless to say,I am as pleased as punch to do so well with this song,a song that kind of reflects the way I and a lot of others feel about the knife crime currently favoured by a section of our community...Anyway friends,I have rambled on enough. I will update the site as things happen,...keep safe...and keep it country

yours

Tony

whats new

Hello everyone who looks...just thought I would report that the new bunch of songs are finished.

Which means i can inflict them on the world at large around the end of March 'o8

as I said, these are a little different from the usual, opening with a song called "judge",with a wicked guitar riff from Bob Bowman.a statement on the state of crime etc today...

.the next one is a song with a very Tex-mex spanish theme, which began life when I visited Spain a few months back."the language of love"

Then the cautionary tale of a young lady that has hard lessons to learn in life, called "Bright Lights"

"these days" is how i see songs and the general state of mind of country..these days !

And .of course, the fact is ..."I try"..just kidding. This one is a sort of western swing,a bit like the style I love of Hank williams.....a bit anyway.

"the book" ..I wanted this one to be different....A sad,sad tale of cheating and love lost....poor girl !

"Red Rock"is a beaty, dancing sort of song (i hope)lifting the mood set by "the book"-hope you like it.

And then we have a song for lovers,a song of hope and warmth I call it "Follow your star"

hmm...Then we come to the one I really agonised about putting out,Mick Lawson, the producer, convinced me to do so."Yes I know it's in HIS style,so what ?-no-one can listen, absorb, and love that kind of music and NOT be influenced..--so go for it ,as a kind of tribute if you like" were his words...so I offer you "1963"make of it what you will.

The last one ?I was in Poland..I had a tough time.

I hope that there is something for most tastes...above all...well,its life.........and soul.
